prime empire au where the superstar rockin jay that the ninja meet acts like jay, thinks like jay, but fundamentally isn’t jay. ssrj is an npc, a decoy built by unigami to stop the ninja from searching for the real jay (who’s being used as a glorified battery) within the game.

of course, to make ssrj the perfect clone, even he doesn’t realise he’s an npc. he thinks he’s the real jay, and his ‘powers’ are fragments of the real jay’s lightning. even’s though ssrj’s memories of his life outside the game feel like they’re photographs, with himself behind the camera, not in the moment - all his memories are like that, so isn’t that what memories are supposed to feel like? 

ssrj is the ideal jay - a little bit too much like jay, perfect in the sense that he’s what the ninja (and everyone else) assume what jay is like. ssrj is jay without his deepest insecurities and darkest experiences, and therefore he’s jay without everything that makes him jay.

eventually, the ninja beat the game, and ‘defeat’ unigami - if unigami can make a digital clone of jay, faking his own destruction is laughably easy, especially when he’s got the element of lightning strengthening him. and yes, i said destruction - ssrj never had those doubts about his past, so why would he share them with unigami? 

ssrj and the other ninja continue their lives, blissfully unaware whilst the real jay is left to rot inside prime empire as unigami regains his strength. 

and if nya notices something slightly different about her yang, something slightly off about his smile or the delay when he’s reminiscing - well, she still died in prime empire, and the last time that happened jay changed. and if this change seems to be for the better, why should she complain?

was talking with a friend about how some of dunmeshi fаndom misunderstands kabru's initial feelings towards laios.

to sum up kabru's situation via a self-contained modernized metaphor:

The DCA's late Boss was the previous owner of the restaurant. he was the one who found them after their PizzaPlex fell to ruin, and he brought them in and taught them how to cook. he's sort of a pseudo-father-figure to them.

he was a very passionate guy, he loved cooking and loved his late wife. and that piqued Sun's curiosity—to love someone even after they have passed. so along with teaching the boys how to cook, he also taught Sun about love. of course, Sun struggled to understand, but Boss always believed Sun would some day.

something that i think about a lot is that nyad and nya both merged with the sea - not separate parts of the sea, the whole sea, together.

so, when the ninja froze nya in order to de-merge her in crystallised, how would they know that the being they were trying to resurrect was nya? how would they know if a few drops of saltwater belonging to nyad weren’t clinging to nya’s form, and weren’t brought back with nya? how would they know that the being they were seeing was nya, wholly and truly nya, with no influence of the woman who also inhabited the ocean?

no, there’s no way they could’ve known.

and so there’s a chance they could’ve brought back both spirits. nyad and nya controlled the same body (of water) at the same time; why would that change when they got brought back?

when the water of nya’s body returns to flesh, when the staff has absorbed her power, jay runs over to his yang. he looks into the eyes he’s only been able to see in his dreams for a year, and they’re unfamiliar. they’re a mix of nya’s normal grey and a blue too vivid to seem human - a mix of nya and nyad, the two spirits who sacrificed their lives and shared the body of the ocean, and who will continue to bear the sacrifice by sharing their human body instead.

The legend of Zelda: Chained Truths ⛓️ MASTERPOST🔑

(aka where I'll be putting everything about my KeyChain zelink au content)

This is my original zelda story with my zelda & link ocs, they've been fondly nicknamed Key (zelda) and Chain (link) to distinguish them from the canon links & zeldas

The basic plot is that the story happens roughly 100 years post Spirit Tracks in the adult timeline

Zelda (granddaughter of spirit tracks!zelink) is framed for the murder of the king, she manages to escape castle town just for a huge bounty to be placed on her head, she is wanted DEAD or ALIVE

Link, a bounty hunter who only takes "wanted: alive" jobs, stumbles upon Zelda and catches her. Link uses a magical item in the form of a chain to catch criminals, and thus chains himself to Zelda so he can bring her to justice.

Zelda manages to convince him to help her out by offering double the Bounty on her head if he does (and they're successful) Link who's desperate for money to support his family, reluctantly agrees to help her find the truth behind her father's murder.

However, when he's about to unchain them, he finds out the magic key he used to lock the chain is missing, they're now stuck to each other until the key is found or they find another way to unlock their shackles.

They hate each other at first, but eventually warm up to each other.
